ASBC

ASBC is a 6 week Professional Military Education (PME) course at Maxwell AFB (AL) for new officers.  Here's a link to the official Air University ASBC site.  During ASBC, you'll learn about the military, the Air Force, our weapon systems, leadership, conflict, officership, etc.  You'll play a game called Icarus which is kind of like dodgeball designed to simulate an aerial conflict... something like that at least.  You'll also play Army for a little bit at Blue Thunder and at Vigilant Warrior.  Most of your time at ASBC will be spent in small group discussion in the flight room.
"Project X" is similar to what you did at Field Training, except you do it with SNCOs

FAQs about ASBC:
Can my wife come with me to ASBC?  Yes!  You need to e-mail your info in advance and request a room ( you'll get a bigger room with a kitchen).  See here for more info on what to do ahead of time.  They do warn the spouses though that it is a "rigorous" training program, and you will be busy.  So, just let her know that during the day, she'll have to explore Montgomery (I recommend the Mini Mall and this BBQ joint) and hang out with the other wives.

I've heard horror stories about ASBC... is it really boring and just ROTC all over again?  Each student will have a different experience as each flight and class is different.  I'd say that a lot of ASBC is repetitive, but very few people could say they don't learn anything.  Yes, the course could probably be cut shorter, but take it for what's it worth... go with a good attitude, and you'll be a lot happier while you're there.
